Former Secretary General, Slovenian National Commission for UNESCO

Marjutka Hafner graduated from University of Ljubljana, Faculty of Poli5cal Sciences in 1983. She started her career in interna5onal rela5ons as an adviser at the Ins5tute for Interna5onal Scien5fic , Technical, Educa5onal and Cultural coopera5on , Ljubljana where she worked with neighboring states un5l 1991 when she began her work at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs . In 1996 she took posi5on as Head of Interna5onal Rela5ons in the Ministry of Culture and moved to Office of the Slovenian Na5onal Commission for Unesco in 2001. From 2005 un5l 2021 she held the posi5on of the Director of the Office and Secretary-general of the Na5onal Commission. Since 2021 she is s5ll associated with the Office, where she is mainly responsible for Unesco programs in culture, heritage and science.
