Senior cultural heritage expert with a focus on World Heritage sites

Katia Basili is an architect and urban planner with a Ph.D. obtained at Ca’ Foscari University, (thesis “Building the management system of the WH site Venice and its Lagoon as a Learning Organization”). Since 2008 she has coordinated the activities for the protection and management of the UNESCO World Heritage site “Venice and its Lagoon”.
In her career Katia was able to apply her scientific and practical background to implement the World Heritage Convention system at site level, facing the challenges connected to urban development, conservation and management of cultural heritage. She is also advisor to other UNESCO World Heritage sites and participates as guest lecturer to national and international conferences and in bachelor and international master courses.
